“We Want a Society Founded on Service” DAR Founder Eugenia Washington The Gunter Mountain Chapter, NSDAR, is a nonprofit and nonpolitical volunteer women’s service organization dedicated to promoting historic preservation, education, and patriotism.
DAR members come from a variety of backgrounds and interests, but all share a common bond of having an ancestor who helped contribute to securing the independence of the United States of America. Daughters are vibrant, active women who are passionate about community service, preserving history, and educating children, as well as honoring and supporting those who serve our nation.
With more than 185,000 members in approximately 3,000 chapters worldwide, DAR is one of the world's largest and most active service organizations. DAR members are committed to volunteer service, having served more than 12.5 million hours in communities throughout the world during the past three years.
The Gunter Mountain Chapter understands the needs of women with family and work commitments, so we meet on Saturday mornings. Each meeting features a short service project and light snacks, followed by the business meeting.
If you have a patriot ancestor in your family tree and would like to learn more about what it means to be a member of the DAR, contact us for more information. We’d love to have you visit our Chapter!
